New Features & Lava-Design
Current State
In the last five weeks, I've added more game mechanics and features. There's now also a new level theme: a dungeon-tileset and lava traps. I've also made other smaller changes, like updating the combat system and creating a slime enemy for the jungle levels.
The new game features are:
- Updated Jungle-Tileset
- Traps/Obstacles
- Doors/Keys
- Lava
- Button
- Movable Boxes
- Hovering Platforms
- Tendrils
- Spikes
- Lava flowing out of Pipes
- Falling Rocks/Spikes
- Updated UI
- Updated Item Sprites
- New Music and Sound Effects (will probably be updated later)
- New Decoration Sprites
You can watch the making of these mechanics in detail here
Next Steps
In the following weeks I'm finally gonna implement boss fights into the levels. There will probably be a total of seven bosses which wait for the player at the end of some levels. They should all be unique and difficult to beat (that's the point). To make the fights more interesting. I'm also gonna add more spells.
After that big step is done, I'm gonna make all the UI and menus. Once that's done, I'll focus a few weeks on polishing the game. That's a really important step for me, since I've never gotten that far with a game.
There will be fewer devlogs over that time period, since I won't have that much to show. So I'm just gonna make tutorial videos or something else, we'll see.
